Michael S. Bailey was sworn in as Gallatin’s newest police officer on Monday, Aug. 5.
Officer Bailey, 34, was born and raised in St. Joe. He received his associate’s degree in computer science and applications from Vatterott College. He received his Class A Peace Officer certification from Missouri Western State College Police Academy in St. Joe.
He was previously employed as a mechanic and computer technician.
Officer Bailey’s military experience includes damage controlman 3rd class (fire fighter) in the Navy. He served on the USS Schenectady-LST-1185. Officer Bailey served two tours of duty in Desert Shield and Desert Storm during active duty for one four year enlistment from 1988-1992.
His interests and hobbies include scouting, Little League coaching and bow hunting.
He and his wife, Barbara, have two children, Shawn, 10, and Stephenie, 12. They will be moving to Gallatin this month.
