Sheriff’s Department
A truck was reported stolen from a Jamesport residence on July 22. The truck, owned by Kathy Hankemeier of Iowa City, Iowa, was taken some time between midnight and 1 a.m.
A break-in at Hightree Service in Jameson was reported July 19. A window was broken, trash dumped, and miscellaneous signs and neon lights were taken, valued at approximately $1,000.
William R. Thomas, 68, Altamont, was charged July 18 with the Class D felony of unlawful use of a weapon. He allegedly fired a gun through the door of an Altamont residence. He posted $5,000 bond. In the same incident, a 31-year-old Gallatin man was charged with two misdemeanors, assault 3rd degree and peace disturbance, as well as failure to appear on a Trenton Police Department warrant for trespassing. He was processed and turned over the Trenton Police
Department.
A 27-year-old Illinois man was charged with the misdemeanor of driving without a valid license and speeding on July 17. He posted $150 bond.
A 27-year-old Alberta, Canada, man was charged with speeding 100 mph in a 70 mph zone on July 18. He posted $350 bond.
A 27-year-old Maysville man was charged July 21 with the class B misdemeanor of DWI. He
posted $500 bond.
A 20-year-old Bethany woman was arrested for no valid license, Class B misdemeanor, on July 20, and posted $150 bond.
A 50-year-old Kansas City man was charged with DWI, class B misdemeanor, on July 20. He was released to family members after processing.

Representatives of the assessor’s office are in the field reviewing property assessments.
County Clerk
July 31 is the last day that absentee ballots can be mailed out. Absentee voting continues in person at the county clerk’s office.

There were 28 traffic cases heard in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment of the standard fine plus court costs. The
total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $1,112.50 for 16 cases. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $945 for 12 cases. All of these fines
are paid by mail; defendants are not required to appear in court. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $47.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines

Car followed another vehicle too closely: Vicky L. Baker, Winston, $107.50.
Robert B. Loman, Warrensburg, was fined $87.50 for one count of speeding and no seat belt, and $17.50 for another speeding ticket.
County Commission
Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting routine matters.
Harmon Flowers, Lincoln Township, met with the commission reporting a bridge needing repair.

Jason Smith met with the commission regarding his tenure as deputy coroner. Danny Heldenbrand moved to pay Jason the regular coroner pay for the month of June. David Holcomb seconded.

Lloyd Riley, Monroe Township Trustee, recommended to the commission that Sandra Alden be appointed to fill the term of Monroe Township Collector. David Holcomb moved that the recommendation be accepted. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried.
David Tolen reported having traveled to Jefferson City, along with commissioners from Caldwell and DeKalb Counties, to attend the signing of House Bill Number 1078 by Governor Holden.
David McWilliams, coroner, met with the commission regarding the funding of his office.
Danny Heldenbrand moved to appoint Nancy Tate to serve as a Serve Link board member representing Daviess County for a three-year term. David Holcomb seconded. Carried.
The commission executed agreements with the Missouri Department of Transportation for construction improvements on State Route 6 and State Route B.
In the afternoon, the commission inspected a road and culverts in Washington Township following a dispute between the township board and a landowner.
