Prisoner expenses prompt use of emergency fund

Linda Steward, budget officer, reported to the commission that prisoner costs to date are nearly triple the amounts expended at the same time in 2000 and 2001. The amount budgeted to 2002 is $138,000 for prisoner costs, and we have already spent in excess of $90,000 in five months. The fund balance is not adequate to pay approximately $22,000 needed for prisoners this month and meet other expenses. Therefore, it is her recommendation that the prisoner costs be paid from the emergency fund for the month of June. David Holcomb moved to accept the recommendation of the clerk. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried unanimously.

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, met with the commission reporting that concrete had been poured on the bridge construction project on Titan Avenue. There were some problems with the quality of the product; break tests will be made prior to payment.

David Tolen reported having chaired the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission meeting in Trenton on June 20.

Steve Lockridge, Jamesport Township, met with the commission and Betty Harmison, assessor, as Board of Equalization. No change was made in his valuation for 2002.

The commission received the executed agreement for BRO(22) federal off-systems bridge replacement. Shafer, Kline and Warren, engineering firm for the project, was instructed to proceed.

The commission executed the supplemental Child Support Enforcement Agreement for Jason Kanoy, Assistant Prosecutor. The agreement, to be signed by the five presiding commissioners and prosecuting attorneys in the 43rd Circuit, was forwarded to Livingston County.

The commission inspected and approved the improvements made at the Lambert Building.

Charles Radabaugh, Sheridan Township Trustee, met with the commission discussing brush problems in that area.
