Gallatin Chief of Police Jim Wycoff is asking the citizens of Gallatin to take extra care to lock their cars and homes, at least for the time being. The warning comes in response to a recent crime wave involving stolen vehicles in Gallatin, Trenton, Hamilton, Cameron, Winston and Altamont.

A home was broken into on June 23, launching the Gallatin Police, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol into a manhunt for the suspect through Saturday evening and Sunday morning..

The police suspect the same individual has been involved in the crime spree.

“Take your keys out of your cars,” said Chief Wycoff. “The M.O. (Method of Operation) in the car thefts is the same. The keys had been left in the vehicle. When the car was abandoned the perpetrator threw the keys away. Lock up your homes at night, until we put this guy behind bars.”
