Sixteen members of the Gallatin FFA Chapter attended Camp Rising Sun at Kieser
Sixteen members of the Gallatin FFA Chapter attended Camp Rising Sun at Kieser from June 3- 7. Attending were Ashley Eaton, Rachel Peery, Jacob Gardner, Dillon Bird, Stefanie Dowell, Will Jarboe, Levi Alden, Cassie Carder, Justin Baker, Canada Harris, Emily Gay, Erin Croy, Brady Feigly, Hattie Rains, Matt Hostetler and Jeremy Holcomb.
Advisors Chris Henderson and Dennis Croy along with Sheri and Kyle Croy also attended the week long event.
Members attended leadership session with Director Crystal Mathews and several state officers. Sixteen schools and nearly 100 members were in attendance for the first week of this year’s camp.
Members enjoyed sports such as softball, volleyball, basketball. Outdoor activities included trapshooting, water skiing, boating and diving.
Several members did well in leadership activities. Erin Cory was elected camp secretary. Ashley Eaton served on the nominating committee. Jacob Gardner was selected as an “all around” camper. Cassie Carder placed second in the Camp Knowledge contest.
Erin Croy placed second in Creed Speaking and third in impromptu speaking. The Rituals Team of Erin Croy, Hattie Rains, Stefanie Dowell, Matt Hostetler, Rachel Peery, Will Jarboe, Jeremy Holcomb and Dillon Bird placed first.
The three on three basketball team of Will Jarboe, Brady Feigly, Justin Baker, Dillon Bird, Emily Gay and Cassie Carder also placed first. Four of Gallatin’s members received a state leadership medal for their efforts at camp. These included Erin Croy, Stefanie Dowell, Rachel Peery and Hattie Rains.
