Linda Adkins, Daviess County Circuit Clerk, has been advised by the National Passport Information Center that effective Aug. 19, 2002, the fees for obtaining a passport will increase from $60 to $85, for persons 16 years of age and older, and from $40 to $70 for persons 15 years of age and younger. Passports are issued for 10 years for persons 16 years of age and older and five years for persons 15 years of age and younger. If you are eligible to mail the application yourself, the fee is $55. Expedited services will be raised from $30 to $60.
Anyone wishing or needing a passport in the near future, should make application before Aug. 19, to take advantage of the present lower fees.
Applications and instructions may be obtained from the Circuit Clerk & Recorder’s Office on the second floor of the Courthouse. At the present time the issue rate is about 25 business days after the application is received at the passport issuing office.
