accidents in Daviess County
Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Daviess County at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, according to reports by the Missouri Highway Patrol.
William Cain, 29, Pattonsburg, was driving southbound on US 69 near Old Pattonsburg. Cathy Coleman, 49, Bethany, was driving northbound. Mr. Cain attempted to turn left into a private drive and pulled into the path of the Coleman vehicle. The cars collided and came to rest in the northbound lane of US 69.
Two passengers in Mr. Cain’s vehicle were injured. Robin Cummins, 37, Pattonsburg, received minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Shirley Tucker, 34, Pattonsburg, received serious injuries and was taken by Noll T. Adams Ambulance to Harrison County Community Hospital. Both were wearing seat belts.
Cathy Coleman received moderate injuries and was taken by Noll T Adams Ambulance to Harrison County Community Hospital. She was wearing a seat belt.
Mr. Cain’s 1984 Pontiac received extensive damage and was left at the scene. Cathy Coleman’s 1998 Chevrolet received extensive damage and was towed by Bridgemans of Altamont.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. P.M. Kimball, assisted by Cpl. M.R. Heits.
Mr. Cain was issued a summons for no valid drivers license and failing to yield to approaching vehicle.
A 17-year-old Pattonsburg youth was moderately injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 12:40 p.m. Monday, May 20. The accident occurred as Bess Sweiger was traveling westbound on Rt. E about four miles east of Santa Rosa and drifted off the right side of the road. The vehicle hit a culvert, went airborne, and came to rest on its top.
Ms. Sweiger was taken by Daviess County EMS to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. She was wearing her seat belt.
The 1994 Chevrolet was totaled and towed by Smiths Auto of Pattonsburg.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. P.M. Kimball.
