Residents of the Daviess County Care Center released 57 balloons Tuesday, May 14, to celebrate National Nursing Home Week. The names and addresses of each of the residents was written on the balloons with a message asking whoever finds one to write back. “Maybe we’ll get some replies,” said Charlie Weldon, who has been a resident at the home for about two months. It was a sunny, windless day and the balloons shot straight up in the air and disappeared in a minute or two. “If the Martians write us we’ll be in trouble,” laughed Activity Director Rosy Reeds. Other events planned to celebrate the week include a cookout for the staff today (Wednesday), a watermelon feed Thursday, and a cookout for the residents on Friday
