Charles Harry Allen Jones, 80, Odessa, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs.
Funeral services for Harry Jones will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel in Odessa. Burial will be in Odessa Cemetery. Military services will be by the Odessa Military Honors Team. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Odessa.
Charles Harry Allen Jones, 80, Odessa, died Monday, April 22, 2002, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs.
Mr. Jones was born in Odessa. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1940.
Mr. Jones served in the Army during World War Two and was stationed in the Philippines and Luzons.
Mr. Jones worked for Standard Oil, Amoco from 1947 until retiring in 1977.
On Jan. 31, 1953, he married Margie Bessie Niday in Gallatin. She survives of the home.
Mr. Jones was a life member of VFW Post 5675, Odessa, and was a former Boy Scout leader. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Odessa where he had served as chairman of the deacons, trustee, building committee and custodian.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam, John and Russell; and seven sisters, Ella Swigart, Lucille Schowengerdt, Peaches Chiddix, Georgia Meade, Beatrice Jones, and infant twins, Charlene and Delcine Jones.
Other survivors include three sons, Bob, Blue Springs, Stan, Odessa, and James, Independence, and five grandchildren.
