The 19th Annual Vocational Preparation Contest was held Friday, April 19, at the North Central Career Center in Bethany. This was a VICA-style event in which contestants competed in hands- on skills, written, math, spelling, and job interview competition.

Fifteen students from North Central Career Center in Bethany competed with 29 students from Northland Career Center in Plattsburg and Excelsior Springs Career Center. According to Steve Adkison, vo-prep instructor at North Central, the students enjoyed the contest and brought home 21 medals.

Those area students participating in the contest were: from Winston – Chrispin Buckner, auto mechanics; from Gallatin – Dustin Teel, Auto Body-1st written, 2nd skills, 3rd spelling; Brendan Conover, welding, 3rd written; Bryan Loucks, auto mechanics, 1st skills, 2nd written; Chris Craig, welding, 2nd skills, 2nd written; Drew Noblitt, welding, 3rd skills, 1st spelling; Zach Brannen, computer maintenance, 1st skills, 1st written, 3rd job interview; and from North Daviess – Kurt Waterbury, welding, 1st skills, 3rd written.
