The month of March definitely blew in like a lamb and stayed that way. K.A.W. Fire Protection District spent a lot of time chasing fire across the wind swept plains. The members responded to fifteen fire calls in March. All but one was a grass fire. The total of calls for the month added up to 61.

In the event that you are planning your spring clean up, please remember that a strong wind is not a good thing with fire. A call to 911 and your neighbors to notify them of a controlled burn saves a lot of trouble and time for everyone. If you think that anything around your burn area might pose a problem, call the fire department or one of its members and they will try to arrange for a truck to be on standby near your location. But most of all, please remember to be careful.
