The Green Hills Head Start Program is now recruiting children with disabling conditions for the 2002-2003 school year.

Anyone wishing to complete an application for a child who is between the ages of three and five, and who may have a speech, hearing, visual, health, physical or developmental impairment should contact Vicky Hiley, Gallatin Head Start Teacher at 660-663-8976.

Head Start is a comprehensive child development program for preschool children including those with special needs. The Head Start approach of providing individualized education, health care, and social services is well suited to children with special needs and offers a unique opportunity for preschool children to fulfill their developmental potential.

In the program, a child is encouraged to think less about his disability and more about his strengths as he relates to other children. Head Start staff members work with disabled children, their families, and other community agencies to provide the full range of services a child may need.
