The Gallatin Animal Shelter has received several donations lately. Safehaven Animal Rescue donated a four-unit cage bank for smaller dogs and puppies, bowls for the unit, crates, an x-pen and travel cage for transporting the dogs, and training leads. Dr. Allenbaugh, D.V.M. of Trenton, donated a grooming table.

The shelter still needs many things. Donations are always welcome. Also needed are towels, blankets and toys.

Paula Sparks, who is helping the shelter groom and train the dogs, says, “Sometimes people are unable to make long-term commitments that dog ownership entails, but they could love and offer short-term homes until the dogs receive permanent placement.”

If you feel you could foster a dog, please sign up for the foster home program. For more information, please call Mrs. Sparks at 660-749-5363.

Mrs. Sparks reports that currently the shelter has several dogs needing homes, including a foxhound who is very friendly; a boxer pup, a nice male dog that loves to play and is a people pleaser; a Vizla/lab who is shy and timid and very much a lady; an Australian cattle dog/chow mix, a nice energetic female; and an energetic elkhound, with beauty and brains.
