The GHCAA Section 8 Rental Assistance Program has been funded and organized to benefit renters and landlords in the nine counties served by GHCAA. With the rise in the cost of living, persons with limited income are hardest hit.
“This program is an attempt to ease the cost of housing somewhat for those who are financially handicapped due to a variety of circumstances,” states Don Warren, executive director at GHCAA.
GHCAA applied for funds to operate the program in the nine Green Hills counties in Missouri. Each of the nine GHCAA County Service Centers is staffed to accept applications from individuals who have limited income and need assistance with rent payments.
Green Hills Community Action Agency has a number of openings available on the Rental Voucher Program in Caldwell, Daviess, Grundy, Harrison, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Putnam, and Sullivan Counties.
“If individuals meet income guidelines, live in a unit that will pass the necessary Housing Quality Standards, and the owner will negotiate a lease agreement, individuals may be eligible where they presently reside,” states Warren.
GHCAA staff are available to provide information about the Section 8 Program to renters and landlords, help them complete an application for assistance, assist individuals in locating a house or apartment and a landlord willing to participate in the Program, inspect the rental property using standards set by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, assist renters or landlords in completing necessary paperwork, and refer them to other services offered by GHCAA or other agencies in our area when requested.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer this assistance to persons living on a limited income, and feel the program can benefit many in their efforts to become self-sufficient,” says Warren.
Persons wishing additional information or to make an application may contact the Green Hills Community Action Agency in the county where they reside, or call the Trenton office at 660- 359-3907 or toll-free 877-611-7600.
