Area USA wrestlers recently wrapped up their season in March post- season action during district, regional and state competition. The local group qualified 13 wrestlers for the district tournament, 11 for the regional round and 4 for the state event, where Billy Kerns brought home a 6th place medal.
USA district qualifiers at Lexington on March 9 included Niko’las Allen, Logan Corwin, Derrick McBroom, Cody Selby, Stephen Wood, Billy Kerns, Levi Michener, Chase Hunt, Kyle Croy, Tyler Grooms, Riley Rains, Robert Rhoades and Colton Selby. Qualifying for the March 16 regional at Excelsior Springs were Corwin, McBroom, Cody Selby, Wood, Hunt, Kerns, Michener, Grooms, Croy, Rains and Rhoades.
State qualifiers for the March 23-24 tournament in Columbia were Corwin, Selby, Kerns and Woods.
Also participating this season were Whitney Allen, Seth Allen, Zane Snow, Ross Wood, Terrill Wood, Derrick Teel, Garrett McNeely, Britton Wright, Dakota Goll.
The USA wrestlers were coached by Charlie Eaton and Larry Rhoades, with assistance from Teresa Eaton, Kurt and Tina Esbeck, Eric Corwin, Todd Grooms, John Wood, Tim Michener and Bill Wright.
