Gayla’s Dance Studio, under the instruction of Gayla Teel of Gallatin, attended “Show Stopper” Regional Dance Competition in Kansas City on March 16-17. Students were judged in the recreational dance categories of tap, jazz and clogging.

Dancers entering the judging included Kaley Esbeck, Sydney Elbert, Kailey Elbert, Aubrey Nelson and Ashley Nelson.

The girls received six gold awards for first-place finishes. They also received three first-place awards as overall recreation dancers. The girls competed in the age divisions of eight and under and nine to 12 years. Students were judged on rhythm, technique, stage presence and routine/costumes.

“Show Stopper” is in its 24th year. Based out of South Carolina, the competition hosts over 100,000 dancers from all over the United States in its numerous regional contests. The girls have now qualified to attend and compete in the nationals hosted in San Antonio, Texas.
