I somehow switched the names of Luke Crump and Jacob Wilson

Everybody has them. Bad days. Some days are worse than others.
My most recent bad day came last Monday while putting together a summary of the Gallatin-Gilman City boys semifinal game from the recently completed district tournament.
Making no excuses for my blunder, I somehow switched the names of Luke Crump and Jacob Wilson in my game notes, and subsequently the story found in last week’s issue. It was Wilson, not Crump, who drove the dagger into Gallatin’s heart with his late free throws after drawing a foul on the baseline. Wilson hit 10 of 11 free throws in the 2nd half after connecting for five field goals in the 1st half. Crump, equally dangerous to the Bulldogs, scored 15 of his 17 points in the 2nd half. Both seniors deserved headlines for their “crunch time” play against a Gallatin team that appeared on the verge of stealing a come-from-behind win. Jason Tibbles scored 12 points for Gilman City, including 5 in the overtimes. It was also Zack Ward (not Webb) who teamed with Ryan Hulett for big 3- point shots in the 2nd quarter. Jacob Webb hit his trey in the 3rd quarter.
That Wednesday night game was a back-and-forth nail-biter for each team and school and I think I got a little too caught up in the quickness of the action as both teams traded scoring punches in the final minutes of regulation, then the overtimes. Sincere apologies go out to Gilman City players, Coach Burke and parents and patrons of Gilman City school for my unintentional errors.
