Funeral services for Jean Nickerson, formerly of Gallatin, were held Tuesday, Feb. 19, at McWilliams Family Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Denver, Colo. The family suggest memorials be made to the Missouri State Troopers Association
Jean Laura Nickerson, 83, Stewartsville, died Feb. 16, 2002, at a healthcare facility in Gladstone.
Mrs. Nickerson was born in Waterville, Minn.
Mrs. Nickerson worked as a truck driver for Matson Truck Lines, a family business, before purchasing the Nickerson Café in Pattonsburg.
On April 16, 1947, she married Charles Nickerson in Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Charles, in 1990; a son Billy L. in 1977; three brothers, Roy, Erwin, and Donald Matson; two sisters, Myrtise Sutter and Eva Shobie.
Survivors include two grandsons, David Smith, Stewartsville and Kent Smith, Kansas City, Kan. both whom she raised since 1977; brother, Glen Matson, Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Ethel Lair, Lido, Calif., Gladys Smith, Faribault, Minn.
