Three area high school juniors will win all-expense paid trips to our nation’s capitol
Three area high school juniors will win all-expense paid trips to our nation’s capitol next summer, as part of the Youth Tour to Washington Essay Contest, sponsored by Farmers’ Electric Cooperative. This marks the 39th consecutive year that FEC has sponsored the academic competition.
The essay contest is open to all high school juniors attending a high school that is located within the service area of Farmers’ Electric Cooperative. Junior class English teachers received essay contest information in early January.
The contest is also open to a high school junior who resides in a home on Farmers’ Electric lines and attends a high school outside the Cooperative’s service area where the Youth Tour to Washington Contest is not offered at that high school.
The contest is not open to a student who attends a high school in Farmers’ Electric’s service area, but resides on another cooperative’s lines that also conducts the Youth Tour to Washington Essay Contest. Children of Cooperative employees and directors are not eligible.
This year’s topic is: “Choose one of the seven cooperative principles and explain how it plays a role for an electric cooperative in today’s world.”
Essays must be submitted or postmarked by 4:30 p.m., Friday, March 1.
