The Association met Jan. 28 at the Multi-Purpose Center with the objective of setting goals for 2002. The Pattonsburg community has two on-going projects that head the list the park project and the depot.

Appreciation was expressed to Penny Gardner, president of the Park Board, and all the workers who have spent long hours moving and grading the land for the park project. The depot is ready for gravel and the caboose will be moved as soon as weather permits.

The Second Annual Community Garage Sale is schedule for Labor Day weekend. Residents are encouraged to use this weekend to get rid of those unwanted items. Community Betterment will do all the publicity so residents should take advantage of the free advertising.

Christmas Decoration Awards will continue for the second year. More information will be out in July-August.

The Community Betterment Association has been awarded a grant by the Missouri Department of Health, through Daviess County Health Department for Pattonsburg. Angela Petty will be in the community conducting a physical activity and nutrition survey. This information will help to find ways to assist the citizens of Pattonsburg to improve their health through nutrition and exercise. Citizen cooperation is very important for this effort to be successful.

Blood sugar and cholesterol testing will be given at the Multi-Purpose Center from 8-11 a.m. on Feb. 22. Don’t eat breakfast.

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Methodist Church will be on Saturday, March 30. Everyone is welcome.

The 3rd Annual Block Party and Dance will be Saturday, June 22. The event is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.

The Welcome Wagon Program will continue. Those with a new neighbor should call 367-2121 or 367-4664.
