Dance team participates in clinic

The North Daviess high school dance team participated in the HDC dance clinic held in Pattonsburg on Jan. 5. This year’s theme was “Songs about America.” Five girls from North Daviess attended: Kerri Baker, Darcie Iddings, Felicia Nelson, Nicole Ray and Crystal Cook.

More than 70 girls participate each year in the conference dance. This is the fourth year for the dance to be held. The North Daviess team will dance Feb. 9 in Gilman City at the boys’ championship game for the conference tournament.

Students of the month for January

Students of the month for January are eighth grader Beth Morris, and freshman Bryan Roberts. Both were chosen for how they acted and their accomplishments in school.

Beth Morris was on first and second quarter “A” Honor Roll. She is the Stu-Co representative of the eighth grade class. Beth participated in Art Club, was a member of the junior high basketball team, and is a key participant on the Academic Team.

Bryan Roberts has worked very hard and has participated in many activities this year. He is a member of the FFA and softball team and is currently playing on the basketball team. He also played an important role on the high school academic team and is getting ready to start the junior high academic team.

Homecoming candidates for 2002

North Daviess Homecoming candidates for 2002 are seniors Jessica Scott and Daniel Griffin; juniors Jessica Youngs and Max Courter; sophomores Mark McNeely and Felicia Nelson; freshmen Bryan Roberts and Jamie Estes; and basketball candidates Kerri Baker and Brock Griffin.

This year’s homecoming game, versus the North Mercer Cardinals, will be held on Friday, Feb. 22. Coronation and dance will be held after the boy’s basketball games. Suggested donation for the dance is one dollar. Chris Baker will be DJ for the dance.

North Daviess FCCLA participate in STAR events

Crystal Cook is the first North Daviess FCCLA student to qualify for state competition after competition at the Region 2 STAR Events at Chillicothe High School on Jan. 21. Approximately 100 members of FCCLA representing 13 schools competed in the events.

Trisha Breit and Shannon Dutro chose Focus on Children as their STAR Event project. They scored a bronze rating. Kerri Baker completed a job interview as her project. She was judged silver for her portfolio and interview knowledge.
