Fifteen high school students have recently joined 36 others as part of the Upward Bound program at North Central Missouri College in Trenton.
Kendra Wolgast, Upward Bound Director, said a limited number of students are admitted to the program based on eligibility requirements (set by the Department of Education), their
application, recommendations, personal interview and attendance at a recruitment seminar.
Upward Bound is designed for high school students to generate skills and motivation necessary for success in post-secondary education. NCMC’s Upward Bound program is in its third year of a
four-year renewable grant, so there is no cost to participating students.
Last year’s students visited six colleges, received 222 hours of tutoring, performed 267 hours of community service and took several cultural and reward trips, including their end-of-the-summer
trip to Nashville, Tenn.
Anyone interested in more information on Upward Bound can visit the college’s Website (www.ncmc.cc.mo.us) or contact the Upward Bound office, (660) 359-3948, ext 331.

Rutherford; and Tri-County R-7 student, Joshua Leonard, son of Clarence and Jennie Leonard.
