The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to be at the forefront of the war against methamphetamine production in Missouri. Preliminary statistics for 2001 indicate that more than 2,000 clandestine laboratories were seized by law enforcement agencies throughout the state. Of that number 669 meth labs were seized by the Patrol’s Drug and Crime Control Division.

These statistics will place Missouri ahead of all other states in clandestine methamphetamine laboratory seizures.

“Every year, our officers seize a higher number of dangerous meth labs and the chemicals used to create this harmful drug,” said Colonel Roger D. Stottlemyre, superintendent of the Highway Patrol. “The Patrol is proud of its officers and their investigative abilities. If meth users and cookers choose our state, we will find them. We will continue to investigate until this drug is no longer prevalent in our state.”

The Patrol reminds the public that clandestine methamphetamine laboratories are dangerous. If you suspect the presence of a lab or chemicals used in the production of meth, report your suspicions to the Patrol at 1-888-823-METH(6384).
