Keith Miley, 85, Raymore, formerly of Newtown, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at a Raymore health-care center.
Funeral services for Keith Miley, a former resident of the Gallatin area, were held Monday at the Newtown Christian Church. Burial was at Lucerne Cemetery. Arrangements were by Resthaven
Mortuary, Trenton. Memorials may be made to the Newtown Christian Church; Raymore Christian Church; Fellowship of John, Foxwood Springs Living Center, Raymore; or Kansas City Hospice.
Keith Miley, 85, Raymore, formerly of Newtown, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at a Raymore health-care center.
Mr. Miley was born in Green Castle. He was raised and educated in Northern Missouri, graduating from Jamesport High School in 1935.
He worked on and owned farms for nearly 42 years. The farms were located in Gallatin,
Newtown, Lucerne, Laclede, Humphries, Princeton and Kirksville. From 1958 to 1959 he worked as a carpenter in New Mexico building churches, education centers and other buildings on a Navajo reservation. From 1964-65, he managed a Jewish Center in Elbert, Colo. Beginning in the 1970’s in addition to farming, Mr. Miley sold seed for Funks Seeds and worked as a crop insurance adjustor for Farm Bureau and Federal Crop Insurance Corporation for 20 years. He
also lived in Florida, Texas, Arizona and California.
Mr. Miley was active in a variety of Baptist and Christian churches in the various communities in which he lived in a variety of capacities, including deacon.
On Oct. 20, 1935, he married Norma J. Cooley in Jamesport. She survives of the home.
Mr. Miley was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Warren; and one sister, Leora Sharp.
Other survivors include a daughter, Shelda Ward, Kansas City; two brothers, Alvin L., Raytown, and Conrad, Stockton; two sisters, Dixie Grosenbacher, Cabool, and Elinor Ball, Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
