Kirstin Riggs, daughter of Abe and Janis Riggs of Arlington, Texas, and granddaughter of Fred and Marjorie Ayres of Winston, recently competed in the North Texas Tournament of Champions. Their team, the Texans, representing the Mansfield Texas Soccer Association, took second place after an overtime game in the Division 2 finals.
The competition took place in Lewisville and Plano, Texas, on Dec. 1-2. Each association within the state sent their league’s champions. At the awards ceremony, medals were presented to the top four teams. During the ceremony, the president of the North Texas Soccer Association (parent association) advised the girls of what they had just accomplished: they were the top four teams of their division, which was comprised of approximately 350 teams within each age group.
