Emilee Minnick, 11-year-old daughter of Ron and Pam Minnick of Lock Springs, is part of the Kansas City Symphony’s performance of “Magic of Christmas.” The production at the 2,400-seat Music Hall will be presented at 8 p.m. Dec. 13-15 and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 15-16 as well as one closed performance for the Mayor of Kansas City and the supporters of the symphony.

Emilee is a member of the Young MAIster Singers, a choir directed by Bruce Dickerson located at the Independence Music Arts Institute. Auditions for the 28-girl choir were conducted last summer in anticipation of the Christmas extravaganza with the symphony.

She is a voice student of Sharon Gray, director of vocal studies at MWSC in St. Joseph. Emilee also studies piano under Jerry Anderson, head of keyboard studies at MWSC, harp under Dr. Nettie Ma at William Jewell College, and violin under Earlene Koons at William Jewell College.

This upcoming event adds to an already impressive list of performance experiences for Emilee. She has performed at Silver Dollar City, in the “Sound of Music” at Missouri Theater in St. Joseph, in “Meet Me in St. Louis” at Chillicothe High School, in “Casper: The Musical” at Starlight Theater in Kansas City, as well as at local events and churches.

Emilee attends Suzuki Institute each summer at Ottawa, KS. She recently auditioned with a group of 500 for the American Choral Director’s Honor choir for girls in grades 5-10 and was selected as Soprano I. This 40-member choir will perform in Houston, TX, in the spring under the direction of Daureen Rao.
