Dorothy M. (Cashman) Handley, 80, Gallatin, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at the Cameron hospital.
Funeral services for Dorothy Handley will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at McWilliams-Hope Chapel Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial will be at Winston Cemetery. Visitation is after 9 a.m. today (Wednesday), at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight. Memorials may be made to the Gallatin Lions Club or Altamont United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home, 201 S. Market St., Gallatin, 64640.
Dorothy M. (Cashman) Handley, 80, Gallatin, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at the Cameron hospital.
Mrs. Handley was born and reared in Kansas City. She was a graduate of the Northeast Kansas City High School.
Mrs. Handley trained at the Ferry Command Flight School to fly airplanes to Europe during World War II. For over three years, she worked for the Willmark Detective Agency in Kansas City. After moving to Altamont in 1947, she drove a school bus from Altamont to Gallatin.
After her marriage to George Handley, who was a regional sales representative for Massey- Ferguson, she traveled extensively with him throughout the Midwest and Canada.
Mrs. Handley also was a cook for the high school in the Gallatin School System during the 1960s. From 1988 until 1991, she owned and operated Momma’s Recipe Restaurant at Gallatin.
She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Kansas City.
On July 3, 1947, she married George W. Handley in Leavenworth, Kan. They lived in Dallas, Texas, for over 14 years and moved south of Gallatin in 1984. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Handley was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Other survivors include a daughter, Paula L. Burcham, Franklin, Ind.; a son, George W. II, LaFeria, Texas; Bob Bailey, Colorado Springs, Colo., who was reared in the home; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
