Mail early
The U.S. Postal Service expects to deliver 20 billion greeting cards and packages this season so some helpful hints might help your holiday letters and packages arrive in time for the holidays.
1. Mail early. International packages need to be on their way ASAP. Domestic parcel post in the USA takes seven to 10 days. Last minute rush? Go express mail or priority mail.
2. Do not reuse the box: Mail moves better in a strong, unused box that is clearly addressed with a return address, too! Put an address label on the inside just in case.
3. Wrap it up with strong clear tape. No duct tape, please.
4. Confirm that the package arrived with delivery confirmation.
The Gallatin Post Office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 to 10:30 on Saturdays to meet customers mailing needs. Priority and express mail shipping boxes, tape and address labels are free of charge.
New holiday Santa stamps are on sale and postal clerks are available to answer questions regarding special mailing requirements for both international and domestic mail.
International packages should be mailed by the week following the Thanksgiving holiday. Domestic parcels sent standard parcel post will arrive in seven to 10 days.
