Funeral services for Patrick Newman were held Tuesday at Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service in St. Joseph. Inurnment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Brookfield, at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Patrick L. Newman Scholarship Fund of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, in care of Heritage Bank, 1701 South Belt Highway, St. Joseph, 64507.

Patrick L. Newman, 51, Brookfield, formerly of St. Joseph, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at a St. Joseph hospital.

Born in St. Joseph, Mr. Newman graduated from Lafayette High School, St. Joseph. He received a bachelor’s degree from Missouri Western State College, St. Joseph, and Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield.

Mr. Newman was engaged in farming in Brookfield. He was also a buyer and production engineer in the Kansas City area. He began his career with Continental Screw and Conveyor, St. Joseph.

Mr. Newman was a charter member of the St. Joseph chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, he was active with the Boy Scouts, Scouting honor society, and the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

On Aug. 20, 1994, he married Doris Cattey in Brookfield. She survives of the home.

Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his father, Jack Newman; and both grandmothers, Helen Ferguson and Sarah Newman.

Other survivors include his mother, Mary Newman, Portland, Ore.; a brother, Donald Newman, Kirbyville; his grandfather, Virgel Newman, Pattonsburg; and an aunt, Marietta Eiffert, Chelan, Wash.
