Members attending the National FFA Convention’s Fourth Session in October saw the Gallatin FFA Chapter recognized as a National Award Chapter. Only the top five percent of chapters nationwide receive this recognition.
Chapter officers Kim Clevenger and JoAnn Tummons accepted the award for the local group. Twelve members attended the national event held in Louisville, Ken. Over 45,000 FFA members from across America attended as well.
Attending from Gallatin were Robert Mazur, JoAnn Tummons, Kim Clevenger, Will Jarboe, Brady Feigly, Brook Carder, Amanda Bohannon, Rachel Toney, Justin Harlow, Danny Clevenger, Michelle Chadwick, and Mitch Riley.
Members enjoyed motivational speeches, leadership programs, the National Career Show and other events. Junior Mariah Gibson also attended the convention as a member of the National FFA choir. Her group performed in front of as many as 15,000 people.
Another highlight for the group was watching Andy Weldon receive the American FFA Degree at the 10th session of the convention. This honor goes to less than three percent of members nationwide. Chapter advisors Chris Henderson and Dennis Croy accompanied the chapter on its trip.
