William T. Burnette, 81, Atchison, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at his residence.
Graveside service and burial for William Burnette, uncle of Emily Daniel and Jessie Olds, both of Winston, were held Tuesday at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Rushville. Arrangements were by the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
William T. Burnette, 81, Atchison, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Burnette was born in St. Joseph. He graduated from Hirsh High School, Chicago. He attended Woodrow Wilson Junior College, Chicago.
Mr. Burnette was a former Atchison County deputy sheriff, and also worked as a railroad clerk for the Illinois Central Railroad.
Mr. Burnette was a member of the Army Air Corps, serving in India; a member of the National Rifle Association; the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; and the Fleming-Jackson-Seever American Legion Post No. 6, Atchison.
On May 15, 1944, he married Vera Stanton at the Carol Baptist Church, Atchison. She survives of the home.
Mr. Burnette was preceded in death by a niece, Norma Zeller.
