Arah Shelton, daughter of David and Pam Shelton of Gallatin, and Nathan Gay, son of Don and Mary Jo Gay of Gladstone, were united in marriage
Arah Shelton, daughter of David and Pam Shelton of Gallatin, and Nathan Gay, son of Don and Mary Jo Gay of Gladstone, were united in marriage on June 23, 2001, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Kansas City.
Pastor Steven C. Lunning officiated the ceremony. The sanctuary was illuminated by sunlight filtering down onto the pews which were decorated with doves and greenery.
The bride’s satin dress was accented with pearls. She carried a bouquet of silk yellow roses and baby’s breath with her great-grandmother’s pearls in her bouquet.
The groom wore a black tuxedo with a blue cummerbund. Amy Woodruff, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Matt Gay, brother of the groom, was best man.
Bridesmaids were Magon Schumacker, Kelly Gay and Kristy Youtsey. Groomsmen were Alex Shelton, brother of the bride, Byrn Schumacker and Dan Johnson.
The bride’s attendants wore light yellow dresses. The groom’s attendants wore black tuxedos with blue vests. Unity candle ceremony was by the saxophone quartet, friends of the bride and groom, of Southwest Missouri State.
Acolyte and lectors were Ronna Ament and Julie Wells. Ushers were Bob Bange and Rusty Lee, fiends of the groom. The guest book attendant was Jamie Johnson. Gift table attendant was Erin Mundy.
Grandparents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Bob Whorton, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McDonald and Ruth Hull.
The reception was held in the welcome center following the ceremony.
After honeymooning at Disney World, the couple reside in Springfield. Arah and Nate presently attend Southwest Missouri State University.
