Turkey count down

Daviess county’s harvest was down from the previous two years, most likely due to weather conditions. There were 64 adult turkeys and 97 juveniles harvested, making the kill total 161 birds.

Turkey kill counts in neighboring counties are as follows: Caldwell County — 105 adults, 105 juveniles for a 210 total; DeKalb County — 110 adults, 69 juveniles for a 179 total; Harrison County — 91 adults, 68 juveniles for a 159 total; Gentry County — 40 adults, 96 juveniles for a 136 total; Grundy County — 54 adults, 21 juveniles for a 75 total; Livingston County — 21 adults, 48 juveniles for a 69 total.

Statewide there were 13,554 birds harvested, up 324 from the 2000 fall season. Statewide there were four nonfatal hunting incidents, none of which were in Daviess County.
