Sharon Ropp of Jamesport reported Oct. 4 that one of their domestic deer had been killed and decapitated sometime before 7 a.m. near State Highway F. The two bullets have been forwarded to the Highway Patrol crime lab. The deer was a breeder buck and was valued at $20,000 to $25,000.
Robert Hughes of Cameron, 27, was charged Oct. 8 with the Class D felony of passing bad checks. He was arrested and held in Stone County Sheriff’s Department awaiting extradition by the Daviess County sheriff. Bond was set at $150.
A 32-year-old Gallatin man was arrested Oct. 5 for failure to appear on a charge of passing bad checks, Class A misdemeanor. He posted $150 bond.
On Oct. 2, a 43-year-old Gallatin man was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, 2nd degree, and domestic assault, 3rd degree, both Class A misdemeanors. He posted $750 bond.
A 44-year-old Kansas City man was arrested Oct. 3 for failure to appear on a charge of passing bad checks, Class A misdemeanor. He posted $1,000 bond.
A 28-year-old Gallatin man was charged with probation violation, Class A misdemeanor, on Oct. 3. He posted $500 bond.
A 66-year-old Bethany man was charged Oct. 7 with DWI, a Class B misdemeanor. He was arrested and taken to Ray County Security Housing for a 20-hour hold. Charges are pending.
Frank Doolittle of Trenton, 46, was charged Oct. 6 with passing bad checks, Class D felony. He was arrested and held in Sedgewick County Jail in Wichita, Kan., awaiting extradition by the Daviess County sheriff’s office. Bond was set at $1,500.
On Oct. 2, Lisa Bielby from the Winston R-6 school reported damage to a playground slide which occurred some time over the weekend. Suspect(s) had used an unidentified heat source to melt a 3-inch hole in the slide. Damage is estimated at approximately $500.
The sheriff’s department received a total of 32 calls in the period from Oct. 2-9.
