Gallatin Police Chief Jim Wycoff introduced Bob Truman as the newly hired reserve police officer for the city. Chief Wycoff also briefly discussed departmental staffing.

Bills in the amount of $54,752.72 were approved for payment.

After first and second readings, ordinances were approved authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute an agreement with Midland Engineering, Inc. for professional engineering services and with Sullivan Publications, Inc. for recodificaiton services.

The board reviewed and discussed the first draft of FY2002 Utility Fund revenues and expenditures.

A report was given on staffing in the Natural Gas Department.

During comments by aldermen, Norma Griffin discussed the utility disconnection policy for non-payment, following a phone call she received from a customer.

Bob Snidow inquired about street repairs on East Van Buren and complemented city crews, particularly Steve Reid, for their work in organizing city equipment at the old dump.

Gene Schweizer discussed street department expenses and the franchise fee as it relates to the gas department. He also stated that it was his belief that salary expenses for the city administrator were costing the city too much and the city is not getting the job performance the city is paying for.

Shonna Morrison stated that an employee called her to discuss pending employee raises as the budget is being prepared.

Mayor Davis inquired about police patrols in the school zone and further discussed the utility disconnection policy following a phone call he received from the same customer as Norma Griffin.

The above are the unapproved minutes of the regular meeting for the city of Gallatin held on Oct. 8 at city hall. Present were Mayor L.B. Davis, aldermen Bob Snidow, Norma Griffin, Shonna Morrison, Gene Schweizer and City Administrator Jason Helton.
