Gallatin R-V school board meeting
The Professional Development Committee plan, presented by Dan McCann, was approved by the Gallatin R-5 Board of Education during their regular meeting held Sept. 13. The plan expands $15,000 for teacher development throughout the year, and includes a mentoring process for new teachers, workshops, teacher training, and other areas of improvement needed in the district.
Bills in the amount of $202,953 were approved for payment. Investments declined from 4% to 3.6%. The board went over the year to date ledger.
Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Act was approved. The local plan, reviewed yearly, brings the school in compliance with special education guidelines.
The new school bus arrived Thursday, Sept. 21.
During old business, upgraded MSBA board policies received first and second readings.
Superintendent James Ruse updated the board on the 2001-2002 school budget which has declined with the state withholding of funds.
The board approved a contract to Sharon Jones for custodial work. She replaces Mary Johnson who retired due to health reasons.
Mr. Ruse reported on decreased student enrollment and gave a breakdown on the affect on classes. The reduction is in the elementary; high school enrollment remained the same.
The board was pleased with the results from the recently released MAP test scores. A more detailed report will be heard at the October meeting.
