Daviess County Health Department has postponed their annual Health Fair for 2001
In lieu of the possible shortage and definite distribution problems of flu vaccine this year, the Daviess County Health Department has postponed their annual Health Fair for 2001. We hope that the Health Fair can be rescheduled for a later date.
Flu vaccine for 2001 has been very difficult to obtain. We have been promised a delivery date of Dec. 1. We are working to try to get that date moved up to some time in October. We cannot be assured that we will have any prior to the December date.
Centers for Disease Control have given orders to vaccinate persons at high-risk first. Daviess County will comply with that order and offer vaccine to those 65 and older and those with chronic disease such as diabetes, asthma, immune suppressed (cancer), and diseases that affect the heart and lungs.
A questionnaire will be given to all persons presenting for vaccine. People who are not at high risk will be placed on a waiting list and asked to return after those at risk are vaccinated.
We are anticipating holding clinics in each town in Daviess County hoping to reach all high-risk people wishing to be vaccinated. Clinic schedules will be posted prior to clinics and published in the county’s newspapers.
