A bid was accepted from Sullivan Publications for the recodification of city ordinances during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Sept. 24 at city hall. The base package for the bids was $10,000 and the option for computer database development was $1,000.
The bid from Frost Insurance Agency for city liability, property and vehicle insurance was accepted in the amount of $30,906 for coverage from October, 2001, through September, 2002.
Chief of police Jim Wycoff reported that the Gallatin Police Department recently sponsored and hosted a meeting of area law enforcement agencies emphasizing inter-departmental cooperation and criminal activity intelligence topics. Chief Wycoff also provided an update on teen center fund-raising and on department staffing.
The board reviewed and discussed the first draft of FY2002 General Fund revenues and expenditures.
An ordinance amending the Gallatin City Code relating to the establishment of natural gas rates was approved after first and second readings.
An update was given on street re-surfacing activities with approval given to exceed the budgeted amount for road oil.
An ordinance authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute an agreement with Midland Engineering, Inc. for professional engineering services was tabled until the next meeting.
Bills in the amount of $124,756.91 were approved for payment.
During comments by aldermen, Gene Schweizer commented about allocation of budget accounts during the preparation of the budget. Mr. Schweizer also stated that he believed Robert’s Rules of Order were not being followed. Specifically, his contention is that motions do not require a second in small boards.
Mayor Davis stated that he believed Robert’s Rules of Order were being followed.
