On Sept. 12, Gallatin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) met with 11 members and one prospective member, Mary Ann Shephard, at Breadeaux Pisa with Beverly Ward and Betty Tingler as hostesses. Regent Beverly Ward held opening ritual with prayer by Chaplain Lucille Bruce. Jeannie Carpenter read President General’s message and Ann Schweizer gave the National Defense Report. Ilene’s Beauty Shop will be the window display for Constitution Week Sept. 17-23. Church bells will ring across America at 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17. Bookmarks will be presented to eighth graders in the county. Regent reported the flag at the north entrance of Gallatin was lowered to half staff in honor and memory of those in Tuesday’s attack on the United States. Beverly Ward and Jeannie Carpenter reported on District meeting in Maryville. The year’s activities were organized for a supplement to the books. Nancy Terry reminded those present to support and attend the Relay for Life Sept. 29. Meeting closed with president’s quiz by Regent. Next meeting is at 1:30 on Oct. 10 at Breadeaux. Jeannie Carpenter will be hostess.
