Three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 2 p.m. on Sunday
Three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, on Hwy. 69 one half mile north of Winston, according to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred as Jefferson L. Ritter, 28, Wells, Texas, was traveling east on US 69 in Daviess County and fell asleep. The vehicle traveled off the north side of the Highway, struck and embankment and several trees before coming to rest.
Mr. Jefferson received serious injuries and was transported by Lifenet to Heartland Regional Hospital. A passenger, Dianna Barron, 48, Alto, Texas, received minor injuries. Another passenger, Frances Cronkhite, 63, received moderate injuries. Both were transported by Daviess County Ambulance to Cameron Community Hospital
Mr. Jefferson was wearing his seat belt, the two passengers were not. The 1991 Jeep was totaled and was towed by Tarepin.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. T.B. Gardner, assisted by Cpl. R.A. Sherman
