Funeral services for Sarah Stewart, a former resident of the Daviess County Care Center in Gallatin, were held Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at the Lincoln Ave. United Methodist Church in Shadyside, Ohio. Interment was at Holly Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

Sarah Elizabeth (Ice) Stewart, 97, Washington, died Tuesday, Aug. 7.

Mrs. Stewart was born in Bellaire and was a graduate of Bellaire High School Class of 1923.

She was a member of the Lincoln Ave. United Methodist Church, where she had been a member of the choir, and was the founding member of the Sarah Circle of the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Stewart, on Dec. 27, 1989; a son, Jerry of Gallatin; a daughter, Sara Lee Berger; four brothers, Herbert, Charles, George and Delmer Ice; three sisters, Helen McMahon, Audra Racki, and Margaret Kocher; and two infant great- grandsons, Wesley Berger and Matthew Koontz.

Survivors include two sons, Alva Stewart, Jr., of Stuart, Fla, Ronald Stewart of Chesterfield; a daughter Vivian Ambler of Bowie, Md; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a great- great-granddaughter.

Those attending the service in Ohio from Missouri were daughter-in-law, Bonnie Stewart; granddaughters, Melissa Miller along with her husband Gary, Melinda Huffman and Jeri Lynne Strathman; great-grandchildren, Drew and Natalie Miller; Halleigh and Erika Huffman; and Tabitha and Jessica Strathman.
