Southwest Missouri State University recently awarded nine different scholarships to incoming freshmen for the 2001-2002 academic year. These students were selected from those who applied based on their American College Test (ACT) scores, standing in graduating class, and leadership shown in community and school activities.

Wesley Gay, son of Keith and Tammy Gay of Gallatin, received the Freshman Academic Scholarship. The award is valued at $2,000 for the 2001-2002 academic year, and is renewable upon completion of 30 credit hours each year with a 3.25 grade point average.
