Carnahan launches toll-free number for rebate questions
Senator Jean Carnahan (D-Mo.) has launched a toll-free phone number to help Missourians who have questions about their tax rebate checks. The checks are the first installment of the tax cut recently passed by Congress and signed by President Bush.
Carnahan voted in favor of the $1.35 trillion tax cut, which this year will provide a rebate check of up to $300 per individual taxpayers, $600 per couple.
“Now that we have passed this substantial tax cut, many Missourians may have questions about their rebate check, such as when they will receive it or how much they will receive. I wanted to provide a means by which they could have their questions answered at no cost,” Carnahan said.
The toll-free number (888) 252-3008, is up and running. Carnahan’s staff will be available to answer questions between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. (CT). Missourians can call the number at any time, however, a voice mail system has been set up. A member of Carnahan’s staff will return calls to those who leave messages in the voice mail system.
