Discussion was held about the dog situation within the city limits during the regular meeting of the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen held Aug. 6 at city hall. Dogs are destroying property and tearing things up.

It was suggested the city create a new ordinance regarding dogs. The ordinance should include dog tags and fines. A motion passed stating the city will research and update the out-of-date dog ordinance with licensing and handling of all pets and animals and seek a method of dealing with violations concerning dogs/all animals.

Any contract made with a dogcatcher should have stated the he or she would be paid a certain amount of money over the hours they work. The contract should also state that if the animals are held past the five or ten day stay, it will become the responsibility of whomever is holding the dogs to pay for the remaining days.

The General Fund budget was revised to exclude the law enforcement rental property as requested by Mayor McDonald.

Stanley (Bud) Steele spoke to the council about the water line exposed at Big Creek. Rock is needed. The council will order riff raft.

Addresses were discussed and tabled until a later date.

The council agreed to join the Missouri Municipal League at a cost of about $270.

The board will seek further information about the possibility of selling the old light plant.

Repairs of equipment being used for the park was discussed. Tickets will be presented and decided upon.

Further City Council meetings will be held the second Monday of every month.
