The children’s and young adult theater league, under the direction of Pat Brown, will start rehearsals this week for the musical, “Voyage Aboard the Charming Sally.” To beat the heat, practice will begin on Friday, August 3, at 9:00 a.m. and go until 11:00 a.m. at the Hamilton Community Arts Theater.

Brown is seeking area youths who enjoy singing, dancing and acting. They must be at least 9 years old or entering the fourth grade this fall and can be as old as high school age to participate. High school students are especially encouraged, as there are several adult roles.

“This musical has it all,” reports Brown. “It’s 1752 and the first American theater company sets sail for the colonies.” The “Voyage Aboard the Charming Sally,” is an historically correct musical play depicting events that set the stage for theater in America.

Brown added, “I’d call this musical intruguing, adventuresome, warm-hearted and just downright fun. And it will take young people of all ages to make this show a success.”

A firm date for the musical has not been set but Brown anticipates it will be held in mid-September if she can schedule it around area chautauquas.
