The Winston R-6 School Board set the tax rate hearing for the 2001-2002 school year for August 16 during its regular meeting in July.

The board reviewed the non-resident student policy and made a decision to leave the policy as is for the upcoming school year.

Bids were taken on propane and diesel fuel, gasoline and milk products. Bids accepted included: MFA Propane at Maysville; Winston Pit Stop for gasoline; and Anderson-Erickson for milk products. The bid for diesel fuel was tabled until the August board meeting.

The calendar of events for August was reviewed.

Eligibility criteria for free and reduced meals for 2001-2002 school year was adopted. Breakfast and lunch prices were set for the school year. They are the same as the previous year.

Superintendent Wendell Burns gave a CSIP update and set inservice days for teachers and committees to work on a CSIP plan.

The board reviewed the final results of the 2000-2001 fiscal year combined ledger fund balances and the 2001-2002 preliminary budget. They adopted the proposed budget as an operating budget

until the final calculations have been established for the actual 2001-2002 budget.

Schumacher Agency Inc. was approved as the provider for student insurance.

Transportation routes were reviewed for the upcoming school year.

The next regular meeting for the Winston R-6 Board of Education will be Aug. 16.

Present at the July regular meeting were board members Roger Barker, Gary Caldwell, Julie Clark, Gary Clark, Chretta Mastin and Melvin Lee.
