The Gilman City Fair unfolds July 20-21
The Gilman City Fair unfolds July 20-21 at the fairgrounds in Gilman City. Trophies will be given in market livestock classes with showmanship plaques awarded in each division.
Friday features 4-H projects and the beef show. Bucket calf show for 2001 calves begins at 6:30 p.m. with the breeding beef show at 7 p.m.
Saturday begins with a sheep line lead at 9 a.m. and show to follow. The swine show is slated for 6 p.m.
A barbecue prepared by Gilman City FFA will be held at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds will defray costs for students to attend the national convention. There are 39 FFA members in the Gilman City chapter. Jason Tibbles is chapter president with Dan Buckman, chapter advisor.
A baby show (diapers only) will be held in the air-conditioned ag building starting at 6 p.m. For baby show information, call Wendy Wilson at 660-876-5623. A talent show and dance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Contestants will be aligned in ages 11 & under, ages 12-16 and ages 17 and over.
