Future Business Leaders of America Recognition Night was held at the Daviess County Library Community Room. President Kara Sullenger began the evening with a welcome, followed by Stacy Craig giving the summery of this year’s FBLA activities. Kara and advisor Barbara Holcomb presented chapter awards.
Placing at the district level in FBLA events were Kayli and Kamille Burrell, Amanda Bohannon, Kara Sullenger, Jamie Burnett, Roxi Davitt, Amanda Boyd. Four first place qualifiers who went on to state competition were Jamie Lunsford, Stacy Craig, Laura McCann and Brook Carder. Placing at state level were Stacy Craig and Brook Carder.
Other awards given were for outstanding members: sophomore, Roxie Davitt and Brook Carder; junior, Erin Sweatman; senior, Stacy Craig; and Outstanding FBLA Member, Kara Sullenger. Mrs. Holcomb recognized each senior and presented a gift.
Senior members are Amanda Boyd, Cindy Burke, Jamie Burnett, Stacy Craig, Rochelle Davitt, Trinity Duessler, Nathan Henderson, Arlen McClellan, Amanda Robertson and Kara Sullenger. Stacy Craig received the FBLA Scholarship in the amount of $500.
The FBLA each year honors a community business with the Outstanding Business Leader Award. This year’s recipient was Rains Natural Meats, owned and operated by David and Steve Rains and family David enlightened the members on the ups and downs of starting and operating a new business. Kara also recognized advisor Barbara Holcomb for her time and support.
Installation of officers for the year 2001-2002 concluded the night. New officers are: president, Mackenzie Riley; vice-president, Erin Sweatman; secretary, Roxi Davitt, treasurer, Brook Carder; reporters, Rachel Toney; parliamentarian, Laura McCann; historian, Amanda Bohannon. Newly elected President Mackenzie Riley gave the closing remarks.
