Emilee Minnick, 10-year-old daughter of Ron and Pam Minnick of Lock Springs, is one of the few vocalists selected out of 250 talented children who auditioned for the Cohen Community Stage production of “Casper: The Musical” at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City.
The production is tabbed as the North American premiere. Performances are slated through July 22. Ticket information may be obtained by calling 816-997-1113. An opening performance was privately conducted on July 15 to benefit Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Emilee is a voice student of Chris Droegemueller and Sharon Gray, director of vocal studies at Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph. She is also a piano student of Jerry Anderson at Missouri Western. She studies the harp under Dr. Nettie Ma and violin under Earlene Koons, both at William Jewell College in Liberty. She is also a dance student in Ballet of Arts of Chillicothe.
This young lady has been a standout in several previous performances. She was an American Kids Winner with a week-long performance at Silver Dollar City near Branson. She portrayed Tootie in “Meet Me in St. Louis” performed by the Chillicothe High School Music and Drama Department. She portrayed Marta in the “Sound of Music” performed at Robidoux Resident Theater in St. Joseph.
Emilee was the elementary voice winner and violin runner-up while receiving a I rating on piano at the Missouri Music Teachers Association during November, 2000. She was named outstanding performer for piano and voice for three years by the Mid America Music Association. Emilee is also a member of the Junior Griffon Singers at Missouri Western State College.
