Anna Barton, a senior at Gallatin R-5 High School, has been invited to sing the National Anthem during the Royals vs. Oakland baseball game at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, in Kaufman Stadium. Anna was asked to sing by Beth Snyder, the pre-game coordinator for the Royals.
During job-shadowing day last school year, Anna shadowed Stan Hendrix, who owns a recording studio in Cameron. Mr. Hendrix helped Anna make a CD which included the National Anthem and another song. He suggested she send the CD to Beth Snyder. After hearing the recording, Beth called Anna and asked her to sing at the game.
Anna is in the choir and swing choir at Gallatin. She sings the national anthem at Gallatin basketball games and for the district games held at Gallatin. Last school year, Anna was selected for district choir, conference choir, and four-state honor choir. She received a I rating at both district and state music contests. Anna is the daughter of Jack and Lois Barton of Gallatin.
